Privilege Academy - spring edition
We chose Nanny Cay in the British Virgin Islands as the location for our first Privilege Academy because it’s our base of operations with an experienced team in place. The fact that everyone got along so well made the program feel more like a group of friends sailing together than a training event.

The next morning we dove right into the boat’s systems. All learning is “hands on” and takes place aboard our new Privilège 500. There’s no classroom time at Privilege Academy and the focus is always on areas that most impact the long-term liveaboard sailor.

Normally, I would spare you the description of our lunch breaks, but our team at Nanny Cay have 15 years of hospitality experience and we were treated to lunches that far exceeded our expectations. This is the British Virgin Islands, so as soon as we finished our amazing desserts we cast off our lines and headed out into 17-18 knot winds for some great sailing. We also made sure to test the swim ladder.

This was essentially our agenda for three very full days. Mornings spent learning about the boat itself and afternoons on the water sailing, anchoring and docking practice.
We also enjoyed having Jen Brett from Cruising World join us for the program and you can read her impressions of Privilege Academy in the June/July edition of the magazine.
